As Saudi Arabia's nuclear program advances from site licensing into detailed design and construction, the Director of Reactor Engineering will lead the owner's technical function responsible for reactor engineering oversight, design authority interface, and nuclear safety case development. This is an executive engineering leadership role. You will provide technical direction and governance across all reactor engineering disciplines, ensure the design basis is maintained through the design and construction phases, and represent the owner's engineering interests in technical interfaces with the technology provider, EPC contractor, and national regulator.

Responsibilities

• Lead the owner's reactor engineering function, covering nuclear safety analysis, thermal hydraulics, neutronics, fuel management, and reactor systems engineering • Maintain the design basis and licensing basis through design development, construction, and commissioning phases • Serve as the senior technical interface with the reactor technology provider and design organization • Review and approve engineering deliverables with safety significance on behalf of the owner • Support the licensing function with technical input to safety analysis reports and regulatory submissions • Develop and lead the reactor engineering team, including Saudi national engineers in development programs • Provide technical guidance to the commissioning team during the transition from construction to first criticality

Requirements

• 15+ years of reactor engineering experience, with senior leadership responsibility on a nuclear new-build or major operating fleet • Deep technical knowledge of Gen-III+ reactor systems — AP1000, APR1400, EPR, or equivalent • Experience with nuclear safety analysis methodologies and deterministic safety assessment • Familiarity with IAEA safety standards and national nuclear regulatory frameworks • Doctorate or master's degree in nuclear engineering preferred; bachelor's degree with equivalent experience considered • Willingness to relocate to Riyadh on a full-time residential basis
